My day in a Nuthouse... I mean Nutshell

If you know me at all, you know that I refer to my kids as the three ring circus. So from this point on when I mention them, I will refer to them as Ring 1, Ring 2, and Ring 3. :)

Yesterday, was dentist day.  My four year old's, Ring 2, first time (I'm running a little behind). He was nervous but brave. He kept saying, "I'm not sure if I can do it" but he did and he did awesome!
Since I'm on the subject of Ring 2, I'll share another reason I should be nominated for the Mother of the Year award.
A few weeks ago we were slammed with the strep virus; we are all better now but because of this Ring 2 missed his haircut appointment. I had another appointment scheduled in three weeks so I figured we could wait and  make that one. Well, we decide last minute this weekend to go visit some family we haven't seen in awhile and right away I was worried about his shaggy head. So....wait for it....you guessed it....I decided to cut his hair! I mean it looks so easy, right? Anybody could do it.  HAHAHA.I started by just trimming up his neck and sideburns, and you know I did pretty good. So I'm feelin it, thinkin hey I'm pretty good at this  so I decide to try to fade it up. (My inner pessimist is point her finger at me and falling off the chair laughing right now) I started slow and easy and with each pass I got more confident.  I decided to go just a touch shorter (she just snorted) and that's when it happened...operation burr to the skin right on the side by his ear!  There was nothing I could do, I tried to make an emergency call to our hairstylist but she had plans that evening, mind you this is 830pm, and we were leaving first thing Saturday morning.  Moral of the story: If you burr your child's hair for the second time (that's a whole other story) make sure he's looking left in all the family pictures, that is all. :)

  1. It's okay! I just did that a couple of months ago! Just wait until your kids help with cutting each others hair as teenagers. Not a good idea!
